Eastwood Hall event to welcome Greentech International to discuss biofilm control in recreational water facilities
UK – 9 March 2026
Active-Insight has announced that James Lee, Director at Greentech International, will attend the upcoming Active-Net event on 26–27 March at Eastwood Hall, marking the final supplier partner confirmed for the sold-out industry gathering.
The two-day event will host 160 guests from across the active leisure and recreation sector, bringing together operators, suppliers and industry leaders to discuss emerging challenges and innovations.
James Lee will introduce Greentech International’s approach to addressing biofilms in recreational water environments, a persistent issue in swimming pools, spas and similar facilities.
During a recent Active NetBytes interview, Lee explained that biofilms are clusters of microorganisms that attach to surfaces and form a protective layer, similar to dental plaque. These structures can harbour pathogens and make them difficult to eliminate using conventional water treatment methods.
“Chlorine is very ineffective at penetrating biofilms,” James said. “This can allow harmful organisms, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and potentially Legionella, to survive within recreational water systems.”
Greentech International is promoting the use of chlorine dioxide technology, which the company says has a higher capability of penetrating biofilms and eliminating the pathogens protected within them.
James also highlighted ongoing collaboration with the Biofilm Alliance and academic partners, including plans to support research with Coventry University aimed at improving understanding of biofilm risks and treatment in water systems.
Active-Insight has delivered its Active-Net events for more than 12 years, providing a forum for discussion, networking and knowledge sharing within the sector. Organisers say demand for this year’s event has been particularly strong, with all places now filled ahead of the March gathering.
